The Kay and Harold Ronson Health and Applied Science Center is the first new building planned for construction following the merger of Philadelphia University and Thomas Jefferson University into Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University). At 60,000 SF and four stories, the new building houses classrooms, laboratories, offices, conference rooms, and lounge areas. A significant portion of the classroom and laboratory area is dedicated to the study of clinical simulation, physical diagnostics, and gross anatomy.
The new building is connected to existing Hayward Hall on three of its four levels. Hayward Hall houses fashion, textile, metal, and wood studios, among other classrooms, and the Hayward/Ronson connectors are gallery-type spaces offering the opportunity to showcase student work in a variety of media.
The project also includes a pedestrian bridge approach to the building’s main entrance, connecting it to the corner of Henry Avenue and Schoolhouse Lane. New pathways, lighting improvements, vehicular circulation, parking, and stormwater management upgrades were also provided as part of the project.
