Biotechnology firm Amicus Therapeutics currently occupies 75,000 square feet over two floors at 3675 Market in Philadelphia. The project houses the company’s Global Research and Gene Therapy Center for Excellence and includes laboratories, offices, common space, and an intercommunicating stair. The laboratories incorporate areas devoted to mass spectrometry, histology, necropsy, gene therapy, and microscopy. Housing state-of-the-art casework, fume hoods, ceiling service panels, mobile lab benches, and equipment using the latest technology available in the therapeutics industry, the laboratories allow scientists to develop an industry-leading portfolio of rare disease gene therapy programs. All the lab spaces are supported by an extensive network of gas and exhaust lines above the ceiling grid, made accessible through designated access points, and compliant with the safety regulations necessary for laboratories. Located in University City, Amicus Therapeutics employs 200 researchers and drug developers focused exclusively on gene therapies, and is in close proximity to other nearby medical-research institutions, including the University of Pennsylvania.
“INTECH was a true project partner for both the design team and the client. Their team understood and supported the project mission of creating an inspirational project within an extremely tight schedule and within a fixed budget. INTECH provided solutions that enhanced the impact of the intercommunicating stairs and the functionality of the labs.”
