INTECH mobilized to the former Charles Sumner Public School located at 1600 South 8th Street in Camden to undertake a fast-tracked renovation and rehabilitation of the building, and transform it into the newest KIPP Public Charter School. Once complete, it will be known as the KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy at Sumner.
The non-profit KIPP Foundation creates and operates public charter schools in economically challenged areas. They specialize in creating environments where students from educationally underserved communities develop the knowledge, skills, character, and habits needed to succeed and thrive at the University level and beyond.
The project consisted of a full-scale rehabilitation of the building, including new mechanical and electrical systems, a new cafeteria with all new food service equipment, a re-purposed gymnasium/auditorium, a new elevator, new bathrooms, and new finishes throughout. The new KIPP Cooper Norcross Academy at Sumner is ready to welcome students, who will enjoy a first class school yard with a brand new athletic field.
