The renovation for the Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano space presented a challenging schedule with many long lead time issues to overcome. The project was spread out over three floors, with two of the upper floors dedicated to the company partners and a lower floor of One Commerce Square for support staff and back-of-office functions.
The project began with the removal of the last run of a four-story interconnecting stair, and a new slab opening for the installation of a new monumental stair connecting the 18th and 19th floors. Several of the long lead items which required close coordination included new metal and glass handrails for the stairs, and two separate folding/pivoting specialty glass wall systems. They needed to be purchased early in the project to make their long lead times fit the 16-week overall schedule.
The project also included custom floor tiles of different sizes and styles for the stairs, reception, and elevator lobbies, all of which were shipped directly from Italy. These same areas also involved back-painted glass panels, a complex ceiling system, and LED lighting. As with many high-end projects, the lighting package was quite involved. Despite including 29 different types of fixtures and an integrated Lutron lighting package, INTECH installed all of the fixtures in time to complete the project.
“We thank you for your hard work and tireless efforts in making our dream become a reality. Our new space is magnificent. Thank you all for being true professionals. It has been a pleasure working alongside all of you at INTECH and I’ve learned a lot along the way. You have a class act organization and we wish you much success in the future.”
